I admit I have become a bit lax towards my trips to Africa, with busy-ness at work causing me to wait til the last minute to be sure I have my "stuff" together, such as anti-malarial meds, passport, etc, etc. It did not help that those doctors and agencies supporting my trip screwed up with addresses. So, for instance, I was supposed to have my research check at work this morning. Instead, it was sent to a residence I lived in three years ago. Then, I was given the wrong address to go to collect it. The malaria meds? My doc sent to the wrong pharmacy, and it closed before I had the time to pick it up. Thus, tomorrow morning will begin even earlier with trips to Fed EX (the right one!) and the right pharmacy before getting to the airport.
No matter what, and how much I can complete tonight, I will be off to Boston tomorrow to meet up with my co-researcher, Dr. Julia Byers. From there, we will leave on Thursday, arriving on Friday evening in Entebbe, Uganda.
